Doreen's
Biography
1983-85?
I was born in
a cabbage patch around 1983-1985. I do not remember it, of course,
and I do not know my first family. My birth certificate is lost
and the box I came in too. That is a sad thing to lose, because
you never know who you really are.
-1999 I do not know where
I lived, but it might have been in New England because I wound up in a flea
market in Mansfield CT. Some weird guy with a blue van had me for sale
there.
1999
I was dirty, and my
hair was so messy that my new family left me there at first and it was not
until they came back THREE WEEKS LATER that I finally went home with them.
When I got to my
new home, Nancy gave me a nice bath. When I took off my clothes I had
very bad grease marks on my back, and I felt bad about that. Later I
found that lots of the kids here have a little something wrong with them,
and I felt ok about my marks. My hair turned out beautiful!
2000
I spent lots of
time with the other kids. Sometimes I would take a ride to Mansfield and if
there was a new kid I would sit with her on the way home. Then, I
would sit close while she got her
bath and then we would pick out clothes
for her. We got a new boat in 2000, and I went for a ride. I was
hooked! What fun.
2000
I really started
boating in earnest when we got a 25' Rosborough in 2000.
Derf
came on a few trips with us. (He started boating
back when we had a Sea Ray.) Poor Derf, his hands are so worn.
He came here new in 1983, and has his box and birth certificate upstairs.
Jim started a newsletter and I took a job on it. I wrote a column
"Doreen's Corner" where I point out some of the neat things we have learned.
2001
Back in Nov 2000 a
little girl came to live with us by the name of Wendy. She is a Ty
baby, and only about 10" tall, but what a character. Wendy also loves
boating and the little bugger sits right up on the console next to the fish
finder no matter how bad the waves get. I have trouble when the boat
rolls, and I fell on my head a couple of times so I no longer sit on the
counter or table. I like to sit on the rear dinette seat.
When
Derf, Wendy and I are together, it is the very best.
2002-2003
The newsletter is
changing, and I have to adjust. Now I will have my own web page, and I
will put new stuff on it from time to time.
